In order for concurrent engineering to be successful, engineers must not only adopt a true understanding of the key differentiators between a sequential model and a simultaneous model, but also learn how to extract the greatest value and benefits from this kind of environment. A comparison of the concurrent engineering model and the traditional model of product realization is shown in Figure 5.As it can be seen, there are huge time savings when concurrent engineering is implemented in the design-to-manufacturing cycle of the product realization. A Roadmap to Concurrent Engineering 2.0 Transitioning from Part-Centric to Process-Centric Change Management in Complex Discrete Manufacturing Scope This paper contains a roadmap to Concurrent Engineering 2.0 which is best described as a system of practices that enable an advanced level of concurrency between Engineering and Production.
